In a recent study by researchers in Buffalo, New York, mice which are obese have a significant lose of the sense of sweet taste. Even the taste buds left which can detect sweet are weak at receiving the signal. This is significant in weight gain because the taste of sweet has been found to be the most commonly desired; a lack of the ability to taste it has the tendency to lead to an excessive intake of sweet foods, thus leading to obesity.
