Lough Neagh, a lake larger than 380 square kilometers, has been a major wintering spot for ducks migrating. But from 2000 to 2009, the amount of ducks at the lake during the winter dropped by 63 percent. In the 1970’s, the lake was richly polluted with run-off, but recent clean up efforts have begun to have negative effects. Researchers believe the change in amount of run-off has caused the number of crustaceans and bugs to decrease. (Read more…)
