University of Kent researchers have found that conflict between livestock and large carnivores can be reduced with guard dogs. Carnivores such as cheetahs and leopards do not come near and this helps to reduce unwanted killing of endangered species in South Africa. A very large percent of livestock losses was reduced. So much as 91% losses from predators were saved. With this technique each farmer saves over $3,000 per year due to the reduction in killed livestock. Also farmers feel more confident that their stock is safe so this save them from killing the predators. Everybody wins.
