Hatchlings of the largest snake in the world, the Green Anaconda (Eunectes murinus), have been found in the Everglades very far from the species’ home in South America, so it has been added to the list of invaders in the Florida Everglades. The Burmese Python (Python molurus bivittatus), probably the best know invader, is supposedly destroying populations of Everglades species by eating everything. Anacondas though, grow considerably larger than Burmese Pythons, so the effect they have on the Everglades could very well be even worse than that of the Burmese Python. (Read more…)
