Learning the SYN1 Gene

The pig, the jellyfish and the zebrafish are being used by scientists at Aarhus University to learn about the protein synapsin that occurs because of nerve cells sent from the brain. Parts of the gene can also be used to control the genes that are connected to hereditary versions of the aforementioned disorders. The SYN1 gene specific expression in nerve cells could be used for generation of neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s. The scientists use a pig, a zebra fish and a jelly fish for investigating human diseases. (Read more…)
