Many of us are familiar with the saying, “you’re so cute I could pinch your cheeks!” This is a strange remark for such an innocent statement. Right? Actually, researchers at the Society for Personality and Social Psychology’s have begun research on why we humans become so aggressive when viewing cute, fluffy, and adorable creatures. With this research, scientists are thoroughly trying to explain what makes us show our adoration in such a negative response. (Read more…)

  1. Perhaps it’s due to the fact that seeing something that cute stimulates our protective side, most especially the parental side in us. My mom has said as long I can remember, “I could just eat you up,” or “I just want to take a bite out of you.” It certainly makes a lot of sense, though that in itself does not make it necessarily more likely to be true.

  2. Interesting how people tend to let their guard down when it comes to what they perceive as “cute.” My guess is that when something or someone is dubbed cute, they trigger onlookers to form an immediate opinion about their behavior, without prior knowledge. What also must be taken into account is that different people have different opinions about what they consider to be cute.
