Immune Protein Explains Skin Disease

Scientists are discovering that people with the skin disease psoriasis are less prone to viruses in the skin than people with a similar skin disease, eczema. This is caused because people with psoriasis have higher levels of antiviral proteins, than people with eczema do. They have higher levels of antiviral proteins because people with psoriasis attack viruses through a different chemical that produces more immune protein. People with eczema don’t use this chemical, resulting in lower levels of immune protein. (Read more…)
